Brüggen (Leine)

Brüggen is a municipality in the district of Hildesheim, Lower Saxony ( Germany ).

It is one of the velvet municipality in Gronau (Leine), which has its headquarters in the town of Gronau (Leine).

Geography

Brüggen is located east of Elze, between the natural parks Weser mountain country and resin on a leash. Southeast of the congregation rise the seven mountains.

History

937 the village was first mentioned. The future Emperor Otto the Great, son of the Saxon King Heinrich I, has issued a certificate here.

Explanation of the name

Old names of the place are Brugheim 936, 954 Brugkihem, Brugkiem 955, 965 Brugge Home, 997 Bruggihem, 1004 Brugge Home, 1210 Brugehem, 1220 Brucchem, 1226 Bruken and 1216 bridges. Despite some variations, the basic form of the place name is clearly visible. The name consists of a composition of " bruges " for bridge and " hem " for home. Therefore Bruggen stands for settlement at the bridge.

On a gold -arched stone bridge over blue red silver corrugated sign foot. From the bridge, a black, rotbewehrter Adler growing (medieval imperial eagle ) with spread wings.

Structures

  • Brüggen Castle, built in 1693 for Frederick of Steinberg, with Castle Park, Castle Church, yard and farm buildings. Here the so-called tennis Baron Gottfried von Cramm spent much of his youth. He celebrated here in the fifties with great effort his marriage to Barbara Hutton.

Brüggen is connected via the federal highway 3 which lies to the west in the immediate vicinity of the municipality to the road network.

The Hanoverian Southern Railway Hanover - Göttingen runs through the municipality. The nearest train station is in Banteln.
