The B75 ( Abbreviation: B 75 ) is a German federal highway and led formerly of Travemünde on the Baltic Sea, the Bay of Lübeck across northwestern Germany to the Dutch border in East Friesland. On its way it passes through the four federal states of Schleswig- Holstein, Hamburg, Lower Saxony and Bremen.

Today, the federal highway 75 has been on long sections replaced by highways or downgraded to the main road and ends in Delmenhorst. The traffic from Delmenhorst in the north of the Netherlands approximately follows the former route of the former B 75 of Delmenhorst Oldenburg and Leer to Bunde and Winschoten.

Course

Schleswig-Holstein

The Federal Highway 75 begins on the outskirts of Lübeck- Travemünde near the Baltic Sea. A little later branches of the four-lane road, the B 76 ( Bäderstraße ) to the seaside resorts of the Bay of Lübeck from. The Travemünde ferry port Skandinavienkai for the international movement of Scandinavia, Finland and the Baltic States is accessed via its own connection point. In Lübeck- Siems B 75 branches as Travemünder road from the actual route from ( transition into the A 226) and crosses together with the incipient here B 104, the Travelodge in Herrentunnel.

Shortly after the Travelodge crossing the B branches from 104 to Schwerin. The B75 ( Travemünder Highway ) continues towards Lübeck-Zentrum and reached after 17 km in total the Lauerholz. From there it leads as Travemünder avenue through the eastern suburbs of Lübeck St. Gertrude and bypasses, snapping off to the south, in an arc across the Wakenitzrestaurant bridge and the southern district of St. Jürgen at some distance from the historic old town. From Travemünde to St. Gertrude the B 75 was planned as Federal Motorway 227, the plan was never realized.

At the Berliner Platz, a two-lane roundabout, the B crosses 207 After the western districts of St Lorenz Süd and Lübeck- Buntekuh leaves the B 75, the city and runs along the Travelodge on Reinfeld to Bad Oldesloe, where she and the B 208 A 21 hits. Twelve miles further follow Bargteheide and after another seven Ahrensburg. While the B 75 previously followed two major axes of the Baroque Ahrensburg city plan, they now bent next to the Ahrensburg Castle to the east, bypassing the downtown as a bypass. A five -kilometer long tree-lined country road section along the setting Moorer Tunnel Tales, a glacial landform, follows.

Hamburg

After a total of 70 kilometers of the border of Hamburg is reached, the 75 crosses the highway at 34 kilometers in length. In Hohenfelde district it crosses the B 5 Shortly before the Hamburg Elbe bridges take the B 75 to B 4, together they it merges with the south on the short highways 255 and 252, the main roads here since the 1990s as a circumvention of the district replace Veddel. Both now traverse the district Wilhelm castle as a four-lane dual carriageway ( Wilhelm Burger Empire Street ), to which since the 1990s, the highway connects 253 ( Harburg bypass ). From their end in Hamburg- Wilstorf B75 leads again as regular federal highway by Harburg further to the southwest, where it is tangent to the A7 at the junction for No. 34 Hamburg- Marmstorf and shortly thereafter on the connection Hamburg- Marmstorf - Lürade directly to the A 261 results.

Lower Saxony and Bremen

After the eight-kilometer section from Lürade along the Harburg Hills in the Saxon town of Rosengarten ( district of Harburg ) to Dibbersen was downgraded to County Road 85 ( current name: " backroad " ), B75 shall not begin until at its 111ten kilometers, at the exit Buchholz Dibbersen the A 1 Now it heads north past the town of Buchholz in North Heath, shortly after which it crosses the B 3. About Tostedt and Scheessel it goes on to the city of Rotenburg ( Wümme ) ( km 157). At kilometer 165, at exit Stuckenborstel of A 1, it is again demoted to the country road; the L 168 reached at kilometer 182, the outskirts of Bremen.

Also in the metropolitan area of Bremen B75 was downgraded. It was not until the intersection Neuenlander Str. / Oldenburger Str it starts again as a four-lane expressway to return at kilometer 199 back to Lower Saxony, where they reached after eight kilometers Delmenhorst and merges into the A 28. Since the development of the motorway triangle Delmenhorst it is possible directly to the motorway interchange Stuhr and continue on the A1 to Osnabrück or from Osnabrück four lanes to drive from Bremen via the A 28 and B 75 to the city center of Bremen. On the section Bremen - Delmenhorst the B should be 75 originally developed for the Federal Highway 282.

At the triangle Delmenhorst the B ends 75 after a total route length of 207 km. Previously, she led a further 120 km to the west by the rural district of Oldenburg, Oldenburg, the city, the bunting country through East Frisia on short to the Dutch border behind the bunch. To the west of the triangle Delmenhorst B75 is today largely by the A 28, A 31 and A 280 have been replaced. The old route of the B 75 has been downgraded between Delmenhorst and Hesel mainly to country roads ( with the exception of the earlier two-lane bypass road Oldenburg, which was extended to 28 A ). The section of the former B 75 of Hesel to the Dutch border is now part of the B 436

Toll

The Lord tunnel (length 866 m) for all motor vehicles a toll road (except a moped ). Mopeds, bicycles and pedestrians can use it for free but it only associated with waiting shuttle bus.

The approximately 5 -kilometer area between A 253 (AS HH- Wilstorf ) and A 261 and A 7 (AS - Marmstorf HH ) is a toll road over a length of 3.4 kilometers since 1 January 2007 by the MautStrAusdehnV for trucks and is extensively controlled.

Since August 1, 2012 are two additional sections at 8.4 km ( Lübeck - Travemünde ) and 8.3 km (Bremen - transition into the A 28 ) to the Federal Trunk Road Toll Act for truck toll.

The total toll length is thus about 20 kilometers, approximately 10% of the total length.

History

Origin

In the Middle Ages and in early modern times played the road as a transport a minor role. At that time served the rivers Alster and travelers as the least expensive route between Hamburg and Lübeck, only between Kayhude and Sülfeld the goods were transported by land. In Oldesloe already in 1175 there was a highway toll station. Coming from Lübeck to the so-called silver bullet took, however, already in Bargteheide a further west in the way to Hamburg, later the federal highway 434

The section of line between Bremen and Hamburg was built in 1811-1813 as part of a dead straight road Napoleonic army of Munster (see Federal Road 51 ) to Hamburg. This route Imperiale No. 3 was the first developed road through the north-western German lowlands, she crossed the once impassable bogs and replaced historic trade routes on the Geest ( eg the federal highway 74).

The section of line from Bremen to Oldenburg was built in 1825 as the first street in the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg a fortified road ( highway ). The secondary section from Oldenburg Bad Zwischenahn Westerstede was completed in 1843.

Between Altona and Lübeck was not until 1840 the first road. These Lübeck- Altona road led from Schnelsen upon ox inches to the northeast (now Federal Highway 432) and continue on Bargfeld to Elmenhorst. On this route ran since July 1, 1841 once daily, the sprung and drawn by four strong horses " Diligence" ( stage coach ), which was divided into three coupes and 15 travelers took. But already from 1 November 1842, the Diligencen took the shorter route via Ahrensburg and Wandsbek which corresponds to the present state road 75.

Earlier routes and designations

The 1932 serves up highway 75 ( FVS 75), renamed from 1934 Reichsstrasse 75 (R 75), originally included only the short section of Rotenburg ( " in Hanover " ) until shortly before Buchholz. From there, the R 3 led ( the B75 today crosses at this point as B 3 ) on the route of today's B 75 via Hamburg to Travemünde. The section of empty via Bremen to Rotenburg was initially designated as National Highway 71. After 1936, the R 75 began at the Dutch border and carried over to empty their previous end at Buchholz. Appeared only in the editions of the Conti - Atlas after 1938 for the entire distance from Bunde to Travemünde, the term " 75 " on.

Substitutions

The fast street in Bremen city area was expanded in 1960 to 1962. The western section between Delmenhorst and idle was replaced after 1974 by the Federal Highway 28. The Bremen Town area, the B 75 has been now largely downgraded and characteristics have been removed. In common parlance, there is still referred to the B 75.

In Schleswig -Holstein to 75 downgraded between the border to Hamburg and Elmenhorst to the highway 2015 B.

The L82 should be promoted between Elmenhorst and Kayhude to the main road and the B 75 obtained so as to establish a connection to the B 432 south of Kayhude.
