Butch Moore

Butch Moore (actually: James Augustine Moore, born January 10, 1938 in Dublin, † 3 April 2001) was a popular Irish singer.

Butch Moore, who sang before in various bands, came in 1958 to the show band, The Capitol. Here is his rise to fame began as one of the best-known Irish singers of the 1960s. It appeared three number 1 singles under his own name. As the winner of the first Irish preselection he was allowed to compete in Naples at the Gran Premio della Canzone Visione Euro 1965. With the ballad Walking the Streets in the Rain, he reached the sixth place. Moore decided to emigrate to the United States in 1970, where he married in 1972 and performed together with his wife as a duo Butch N Maeve. In addition, the couple ran a pub in Massachusetts.

Butch Moore died in 2001 of a heart attack.
