Pat McGuigan

Pat McGuigan ( born 1935 in Clones as Patrick McGuigan, † 1987) was an Irish pop singer. He became known in Ireland in the 1960s as a singer in the show bands The Victors and then The Skyrockets. He was selected to represent his country at the Euro Vision Song Contest 1968 in London. He called himself this, Pat McGeegan. With the hit chance of a lifetime, he managed fourth place in the Irish charts the title went straight to No. 1

McGuigan was followed by his son, boxer Barry McGuigan in the United States where he acquired notoriety because he often opened his son's boxing matches with the song Danny Boy.

Pat McGuigan died in 1987 after a long illness, aged 52.
