Bütgenbach is a German -speaking community in the province of Liège and one of the nine municipalities of the German-speaking Community in Belgium with a population of 5731 (as of 1 January 2012) on a total municipal area of 97.31 square kilometers. Bütgenbach forms since 1977 with Else Born, Mountain, Küchelscheid - Leykaul, Nidrum and Weywertz the United Bütgenbach.

History

A first mention learned Bütgenbach under the Carolingians in the 9th century as an outpost of Büllingen court.
