Geography

Geographical location

Buttenwiesen belongs to the region of Augsburg. The municipality is located in the lower Zusamtal.

Community structure

The community is adjacent to the main town Buttenwiesen from local parts Almhof, Bartl Stock Schwaige Beutmühle, Field Bach, Ms. Stetten, Greggenhof, rear Ried, Illemad, Lauterbach, Ludwig Schwaige Mayerhof, Neuweiler, Oberthürheim, Oberpfaffenhofen at the con, floor mill, Unterthürheim, Vorderried and Wortelstetten.

History

The Buttenwiesen castle was in the 12th and 13th centuries in the possession of the Lords of the boar - Reisensburg and died in 1270 at the Margraviate of Burgau, who held the lordship in Buttenwiesen to the early 19th century. The place Buttenwiesen was the seat of an Upper and Lower court belonging to Austria Margraviate. With the peace treaties of Brno and Bratislava in 1805 the site became part of Bavaria. On the territory of the present municipality of the communities Buttenwiesen, Ms. Stetten, Lauterbach, Oberthürheim, Oberpfaffenhofen adZusam, Unterthürheim and Wortelstetten were formed by the congregation of 1818.

From the mid- 1970s, consideration was given to build a nuclear power plant in the district at the Oberpfaffenhofen co. The potential site was abandoned by Cabinet decision in 1999.

Incorporations

On 1 May 1978, the formerly independent municipalities woman Stetten, Lauterbach, Oberpfaffenhofen at the con, and Thürheim Wortelstetten were incorporated. The community Thürheim was only two years ago, re-formed on 1 January 1976, by the merger of the former municipalities Oberthürheim and Unterthürheim.

Policy

Since 2004, Norbert Beutmüller (CDU Buttenwiesen ) Mayor of Buttenwiesen. He is the successor of Leo Schrell ( as mayor at election CSU proposal, now FUW ), who was elected to the district administrator in the district of Dillingen on the Danube. In July 2010 Beutmüller was confirmed in a runoff election with 54.88 % of the vote in office.

Buttenwiesen is a community role model in terms of renewable energy.
