The Cadillac Type 51 is a 1914/15 built model of the U.S. car manufacturer Cadillac V8 engine.

Type 51 (Model 1915 )

In September 1914, Cadillac introduced the successor to the Model Thirty models based on the new Type 51 with a V8 engine. At the same time the change was made from right-hand to left-hand drive.

On a ladder frame with a wheelbase of 310 cm Cadillac offered 9 different constructions, from two -seat roadster over the five-to siebenplätzigen touring car closed to the Imperial Sedan with 7 seats. Type 53 (Model 1916 )

Type 55 (Model 1917 )

In August 1916, the Type 55 of the vintage 1917 went on sale. The frame has been revised and extended wheelbase to 317.5 cm, and received two additional cross tubes, the engine modified pistons with larger oil return ports. Type 57 (Model 1918 /19)

The Type 57 was a completely new three-speed gearbox and a modified bonnet with 9 lateral air outlets, the new V8 lightweight pistons and detachable cylinder heads. The regular model program swelled to 17 different variants, from the two -seat roadster to the " U.S. Government limousine " for representatives of the Federal Government and a Suburban -called seven-seater on the extra-long wheelbase of special bodies. 1919 sank the model range to 14 variants; among other things, the special structure hearse was carried to his grave.

Type 59 (Model 1920 /21)

Type 61 (Model 1922 /23)

Also from the Type 61, which was only offered with the medium wheelbase of 335.3 cm, there were three slightly different from each series. Common to all was a higher aluminum bonnet, windscreen washer system and rear-view mirror.

In September 1923, the Type 51/61-Baureihe was replaced by the V- 63; until then 160 033 copies had emerged from the first eight-cylinder Cadillac in total.
