In September 1923 Cadillac presented as a successor to the Type 61 the new V- 63rd

When V -63, it was a slightly modified Type 61; most important innovations were mechanically operated front brakes and a balanced crankshaft.

The bodies differed in details of its predecessors; so the hoods of the cooler were longer and 2.5 cm higher.

Great novelty of the vintage 1925, the Custom models (based on the concept of custom-built = special design). These priced lying around about 600 dollars over the standard models versions, the customer had the choice of two dozen color combinations and 10 different covers. The variety of colors allowed for the new fast-drying Duco nitrocellulose lacquers DuPont. Another special feature of the custom models were the angled slightly backwards windshield and extended to 350.5 cm wheelbase. The long- models (wheelbase 368.3 cm) were integrated in the Custom series.

All models of the new year were chromed radiator mask and headlamp housing.

In August 1925, the V -63 was replaced by the Cadillac Series 314; until then, a total of 35,500 pieces were rolled off the assembly of the V -63.
