Cadillac ATS

Cadillac ATS ( since 2012 )

The Cadillac ATS is a mid-range model of the U.S. car brand Cadillac, which came on the domestic market in September 2012.

The car replaced the less successful Cadillac BLS, but in contrast to this available in the United States. A further essential difference is that the ATS has rear-wheel drive.

The vehicle is to expand the range of models from Cadillac to a slightly smaller model, but the brand also open the European market, where they are marketed primarily as a competitor to the BMW 3 Series. In China, the vehicle will be sold.

It is the first vehicle on the new GM Alpha platform. This platform is a front-engine rear-wheel drive architecture that is particularly reduced weight by the use of light metals and specific design features.

History

A study was presented early in 2009 under the same name, which is still traded at a coupe. The design was based on the larger Cadillac CTS, but was partially mitigated. A coupe and a station wagon will follow later in the series.

As engines are a 2.5 -liter naturally aspirated engine with 151 kW ( 205 hp ), a 2.0 - liter turbo with 203 kW ( 276 hp ) and a 3.6 -liter V6 with 239 kW ( 325 hp) offered. Later, at least for Europe also follow a previously unspecified diesel. Later, also an ATS - V version comes with 294 kW (400 hp ), but no V8 engine.

In Germany, the ATS (276 PS) since end of 2012, initially only with the 2.0 - liter turbo with 203 kW available. The ATS is available with rear-wheel drive and 6- speed manual or 6- speed automatic or four-wheel drive and 6- speed automatic transmission.
