Casalbordino

Casalbordino is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 6252 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Chieti in the Abruzzo region. The community is located about 42 kilometers southeast of Chieti directly on the Adriatic Sea ( the village about 8 km inland ). The coastline is Costa dei trabocchi or " small Normandy " - called - because of the climate.

History

The place or the community has retained its original name after the Condottiere Roberto Bordinus. It was here at the settlement area of ​​Frentanians, so that settlement remains are detectable as early as the 2nd century BC. 971 St. John's Abbey was founded in today's district Santini.

Traffic

Through the community lead the Autostrada A14 and the Strada Statale 16 Adriatica and the Strada Statale 364 di Atessa. A breakpoint is at the ferrovia Adriatica, the railway line from Ancona to Lecce.
