Cerenzia

Cerenzia is a southern Italian municipality ( comune ) in the province of Crotone in Calabria with 1179 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012). The community is located about 48 kilometers northwest of Crotone.

History

On the mountain at Cerenzia the ancient settlement was Akerentia (also: Acheronthia, Acerenthia ), which was named after the river Acheron. His Italian counterpart is harvesting. From 1099 to 1437 was Cerenzia seat of the diocese of the same name. Today there is only a titular.

Traffic

Through the community, the Strada Statale 107 Silana Crotonese leads from Paola to Crotone.
