Comparison of Android devices

Android is both an operating system - Linux based - as well as a software platform for mobile devices such as smartphones, mobile phones, netbooks and tablets, which is developed by the Open Handset Alliance. In Android is free software, and open source is developed. To the market research firm Gartner, Android had a smartphone operating system in the third quarter of 2011, a worldwide market share of 52.5 percent.

The following list shows some officially presented tablet systems with the Android operating system. The 3.x versions were appropriate for addition to the versions 2.x phones specifically optimized for tablets. Nevertheless, many tablets with Android 2.x were released because 3.0 was not yet available at this time Android. In early February 2012 ( less than a year after the release of Android 3.0) ran only 3.4 % of all Android devices with version 3.x. With Android 4.0, both branches of development were brought together again.
