Cortemaggiore

Corte Maggiore is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 4534 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Piacenza in Emilia -Romagna. The municipality is situated approximately 19 km east-southeast of Piacenza and about 17 kilometers southwest of Cremona.

History

The center Corte Maggiore was founded in 1479 by the Marquis Gian Ludovico Pallavicino, although there are traces of settlements from Roman antiquity. Early on, also a Jewish community had settled. The synagogue was built in 1842.

Traffic

Through the village leads the Autostrada A21 towards Cremona and Brescia.
