Crevans -et -la- Chapelle- lès -Granges is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Crevans -et -la- Chapelle- lès -Granges is situated at an altitude of 303 m above sea level, 11 km east of Villers Exel and about 17 km west-northwest of the city of Montbéliard (air line). The village is set in the rolling countryside of the southeast of the département, in a valley basin of the river at the northwest foot of Scey Bois des Hautes Roches.

The area of ​​3.91 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the hills between the valleys of Ognon and Doubs. The western part of the area occupied by the basin of Crevans, the average is 300 m and is used mainly for agricultural purposes. It is drained by the Scey housing the village stream here and here and there forms the western boundary of the municipality. To the southeast, the municipality's area on the terrace of La Chapelle area extends to the slope of the ridge of the Hautes Roches. This consists of a resistant limestone layer of the middle Jurassic period. Here the highest elevation of Crevans -et -la- Chapelle- lès -Granges is achieved with 473 m.

The municipality consists of the two districts Crevans (303 m) in the hollow of Scey and La Chapelle ( 355 m) on a terrace at the northwest foot of the Hautes Roches. Neighboring communities of Crevans -et -la- Chapelle- lès -Granges are Granges- le -Bourg in the north, Saulnot in the east, and Gémonval Vellechevreux -et- Courbenans in the south and Secenans in the West.

History

In the Middle Ages Crevans belonged to the rule Granges, which was under the suzerainty of the Counts of Montbéliard. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France.

In 1807 merged Crevans and La Chapelle- lès -Granges along with various other places the greater community Granges- le -Bourg. From this large village located Crevans separated in 1832 and got its independence back. La Chapelle- lès -Granges was separated in 1853 from Granges -le- Bourg and merged with Crevans to double municipality Crevans -et -la- Chapelle- lès -Granges. Since 2000 Crevans -et -la- Chapelle- lès -Granges is a member of the 33- villages municipal association Communauté de communes du Pays de Villers Exel.

Attractions

In the center of Crevans are an interesting circular fountain, which was created in 1861 by the architect Grandmougin, and the sculpture Vierge by Georges Oudot.

Population

With 248 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Crevans -et -la- Chapelle- lès -Granges is one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1891 281 persons were still counted ), a population growth was recorded since the mid-1970s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Crevans -et -la- Chapelle- lès -Granges was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) embossed village. The water power of the streams was formerly used for the operation of several mills and a tannery. Today there are various businesses of the local small business sector. Meanwhile, the village has also changed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the area and agglomeration Belfort -Montbéliard their work.

The village has good transport links. It lies on the main road D9, which runs from Héricourt to Villers Exel. Further road links exist with Gémonval and Gonvillars.
