Davlekanovo
Dawlekanowo (Russian Давлеканово, Bashkir Дәүләкән / Däüläkän ) is a city in the Republic of Bashkortostan (Russia) with 24,073 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).
Geography
The city is located in the southern Uralvorland, about 90 km north-west of the Republic capital Ufa at the Djoma, a left tributary of the opening into the Kama Belaya.
Dawlekanowo the Oblast is administratively subordinated directly and as the administrative center of the homonymous Rajons.
History
In place of the present-day city since the mid-18th century the village was known Itkulowo, which was later renamed Dawlekanowo (at least in the construction of the railway line Samara - Ufa or its opening in 1888 with the same name station ). Towards the end of the 19th century the town was an important center for grain processing and trading. It received city rights in 1942.
