Dodge Intrepid
The Dodge Intrepid was a service offered by the U.S. automobile manufacturer Dodge 1992-2004 sedan with front-wheel drive.
Intrepid (1992-1997)
The first Intrepid based on the LH platform of the Chrysler Group and was closely related to the simultaneously produced models Chrysler Concorde, New Yorker, and LHS and the Eagle Vision. A Plymouth version was not available.
Intrepid was presented in early 1992 at the Motor Show in Detroit. The design followed the first propagated by Chrysler Cab Forward philosophy, and had a long wheelbase and relatively short overhangs and a far-reaching forward passenger cabin with a correspondingly short hood on. In series of Intrepid soon came as a model in 2003, the production was performed in a Chrysler plant in Canada.
Were offered the base versions and ES with a 3.3 -liter V6 or surcharge with a 3.5 -liter V6 with 24 valves, each in conjunction with a four-speed automatic. The model variant ES offered a firmer suspension, rear disc brakes, a leather steering wheel and 16- inch alloy wheels.
In 1995, the performance of the 3.3 - liter engine was increased from 114 to 120 kW (163 hp), the transmission was revised with regard to softer shifts.
From model year 1996, the 3.5 -liter engine in the ES variant belonged to the standard equipment.
In model year 1997, it was presented as the third model in the Intrepid - program the "Sport " model, with a 3.5 -liter V6, a new four-speed automatic with Steptronic function, electrically adjustable driver's seat, Sportradkappen and leather steering wheel and gear knob.
From the first generation Dodge Intrepid produced a total of 644,000 pieces.
Intrepid (1997-2004)
The Intrepid Second Generation debuted with the model year 1998 and showed up in a modernized, more rounded Cab -forward design with easily grown dimensions as well as an increased interior space.
There were new alloy V6 engines are used, which offered more power, but less than did its predecessor: a unit with 2.7 liters of displacement, which made 149 kW ( 203 hp ) and a 3.2-liter and 164 kW ( 223 hp). The former drove the base model and the 3.2 -liter engine the Intrepid ES ( the Sport version was canceled after only one year). Coupled the engines were again with four-speed automatic transmissions, the ES with additional manual shift function.

From model year 2000, the basic model was called Intrepid SE. In addition to the program was the sporty version Intrepid R / T with the revised, 180 kW (245 hp), used in the previous model, 3.5 -liter V6 engine.
In model year 2003, the R / T ( 253 PS) was replaced strong 3.5 -liter V6 through the Intrepid SXT with 186 kW.
In summer 2004 Dodge discontinued the production of the Intrepid.
