Dölsach

Doelsach is a municipality in the district of Lienz in Tyrol in Austria with 2272 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Lienz.

In the municipality of Doelsach is the Roman archaeological site Aguntum.

Geography

Doelsach is located in Lienz valley, east of Lienz at 737 m above sea level. The municipality covers an area of 24.2 km ². The National Park Community Doelsach is divided into five factions, which be named as follows: Doelsach, Gödnach, Göriach, Görtschach and Stribach.

History

The name is derived from Doelsach " Dolice " which means small valley. Mentioned in a document of the place is around 1197 for the first time; the place is until 1676 the seat of a so-called " original parish ". In 1938 Doelsach is united as the administrative headquarters to the field of Iselsberg -Stronach and remains after the separation of which in 1945 the seat of the church today.

Economy: In addition to many commuters still keeps agriculture. The municipality is a member of the Climate Alliance Tyrol.
