The Erie Township is one of 22 townships in Whiteside County in the northwestern part of the U.S. state of Illinois. In 2010, the Erie Township had 2006 inhabitants.

Geography

The Erie Township is located on the north bank of the Rock River in northwestern Illinois. The Mississippi River, which forms the border with Iowa, is located about 15 west. The border with Wisconsin is located approximately 110 km north.

The Erie Township is located at 41 ° 38'22 " north latitude and 90 ° 07'02 " west longitude and extending over 63.97 km ², spread over 62.15 km ² land and 1.82 km ² water surface.

The Erie Township is located in the west of Whiteside County and is bordered to the west by the Skirt Iceland County. Within the Whiteside County, the Erie Township is bordered to the south, southeast and east by the Portland Township, in the northeast on the Fenton Township, on the north by the Newton Township and to the northwest by the Albany Township.

Traffic

In the north- west Interstate 88 runs through the Erie Rownship. All other roads are County Roads or more subordinate and partly unpaved roadways.

Along the Rock River railway line of the BNSF Railway runs through the Erie Township.

The nearest airport is around 40 km south-west of the township situated Quad City International Airport.

Demographic data
