FC Argeș Pitești
FC Arges Pitesti is a Romanian football club from Piteşti. He was twice Romanian football champions and plays in the Liga II, the second Romanian football league since 2009.
History
FC Arges Pitesti was founded on the initiative of the Romanian Ministry of Internal Affairs in 1953 as Dinamo Piteşti. The rise of the association began when the team of Dinamo Bucharest Miliţie was resettled in Pitesti in 1959. In the season 1960/61, the rise in the Divizia A. succeeded After the immediate relegation in the season 1962/63 achieved the immediate revival and in the season 1964/65 by reaching the Romanian Cup final against Cluj StiinTa the first success. In the following season, Dinamo placed 4th.
In 1968 Dinamo changed its name to FC Arges Pitesti which has existed even today. In the same year was runner-up behind Steaua Bucharest Arges. After a few years in the lower middle Arges was in the 1971/72 season for the first time Romanian football champions and could reach the European Cup of Champions the first knockout round, beat in the Arges Although Romanian as the first ( and so far only ) club Real Madrid, but in the following season eliminated.
In the 1970s, Arges was initially able to maintain contact with the tip, but fell mid -1970s back into midfield. The last major successes celebrated the team in the season 1977/78 by winning the runner-up behind Steaua Bucharest (and tied ) and the subsequent second title in the season 1978 / 79th In Europe Champions Cup Arges reached again after a victory against AEK Athens the second round, had to be there but the eventual winners Nottingham Forest beaten twice.
Until the mid -1980s to Arges was able to always place it in the front of the field, but without being able to build on the previous successes. In the season 1987/88 the fight against relegation, eventually could no longer be avoided in the 1991/92 season started. After two years in Divizia B succeeded in 1994, the re-emergence and in the 1997/98 season with a third place last time qualifying for the UEFA Cup, where the club was able to attend a total of five times.
