First Rutte cabinet

The Cabinet Rutte I made ​​on 14 October 2010 to 5 November 2012, the Government of the Netherlands. After his resignation on 23 April 2012, the Cabinet was still a caretaker until the parliamentary elections on 12 September 2012 in office.

In the cabinet, there was a minority government of the conservative-liberal People's Party for Freedom and Democracy ( VVD ) and the Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA ), which was tolerated by the Party for Freedom (PVV ). The coalition possessed together with the PVV 76 of 150 seats in the Second Chamber of the Dutch Parliament. On 8 October 2010 transferred Queen Beatrix Mark Rutte, the top candidates of the VVD, the formation of a government after the three parties and factions agreed to the coalition and toleration contracts. On 23 April 2012, the Prime Minister Mark Rutte presented at Queen Beatrix of the resignation of his government because of a dispute over budget cuts in the wake of the euro crisis. This budget negotiations was not supported by the PVV, which the minority government was no majority for the negotiations. The savings plans were finally approved on 26 April 2012 by the government parties and the opposition parties D66, Groen Links and ChristianUnion, which together have a majority in the Second Chamber.

Compared to the previous government Balkenende IV government was reduced from 27 to 20 ministers and secretaries of state:

  • The Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food quality was merged with the Ministry of Economy to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation.
  • The Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment and the Ministry of Transport and Water Management were merged with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment.
  • The Ministry of Justice has been increased by security departments of the Ministry of Interior.
  • The functions of the Minister without Portfolio for Development Cooperation and the Youth and Family have been resolved.
  • The Office of the Minister without portfolio for residential, exclusion and integration was responsible for the areas of immigration and asylum.
