Flakstad is a commune ( municipality) in the Fylke Nordland on the Lofoten Islands in Norway.

Location and data

The Flakstad municipality located on the island Flakstadøy and the northern part of the island Moskenesøy. Here live to 180 km ² approximately 1,470 inhabitants. The main town of the administration is Ramberg.

History

Since the Stone Age, there are settlements in space Flakstad. Since the 16th century the fishing villages Nusfjord and Sund are known.

Economy and Transport

The main industry is fishing, followed by the handicraft factories in Vikten, Ramberg and Sund and tourism.

The European Route 10 runs through the city Ramberg. The nearest airport is in Leknes on VESTVÅGØY (33 km ), the next Hurtigruten investor is Stamsund (49 km), also on VESTVÅGØY.
