Frederick E. Woodbridge

Frederick Enoch Woodbridge ( born August 29, 1818 in Vergennes, Addison County, Vermont, † April 25, 1888 ) was an American politician.

Woodbridge studied law at the University of Vermont in Burlington, where he received his degree in 1840. In 1843 he was admitted to the legal profession and practiced in Vergennes. 1849, 1857, and in 1859 he was a delegate in the House of Representatives from Vermont. The office of mayor of Vergennes practiced Woodbridge from for five years. 1850 to 1853 he held the post of Vermont Auditor of Accounts. He was then 1854-1858 prosecutor and was from 1860 to 1861 in the Senate Senator from Vermont.

Woodbridge was elected as a Republican to Congress and represented there after repeated re-election of March 4, 1863 to March 3, 1869 State of Vermont in the U.S. House of Representatives. After retiring from politics, he started practicing again in his former profession. Woodbridge died in 1888 in Vergennes and was buried in Prospect Cemetery.
