Richard W. Mallary

Richard Walker Mallary ( born February 21, 1929 in Springfield, Massachusetts, † 27 September 2011 in Brookfield, Vermont ) was an American politician. Between 1972 and 1975 he represented the state of Vermont in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Richard Mallary first attended the Bradford Academy in Vermont, and then to 1949, Dartmouth College in Hanover (New Hampshire). Between 1950 and 1970 he ran in Fairlee a farm on which he produced especially milk. Between 1951 and 1953 he sat in the local council.

Politically Mallary was a member of the Republican Party. Between 1961 and 1969 he was a delegate in the House of Representatives from Vermont, from 1966 to 1968 he was its president. After that belonged from 1969 to 1970 to the State Senate. From 1965 to 1967 he was Chairman of the Council of the legislature of Vermont. In 1968, Mallary was a delegate to the Republican National Convention in Miami Beach, was nominated to the Richard Nixon as a presidential candidate of the party. In the years 1962 to 1965 he was curator and treasurer of the State Colleges in Vermont. At the same time, he held several management positions in the state government.

Following the resignation of Congressman Robert Stafford, who joined the U.S. Senate, Mallary was elected at the election due in 1971, his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives. After his victory at the regular elections of 1972 he was able to implement his mandate in Congress between January 7, 1972, to January 3, 1975. In 1974, Mallary ran unsuccessfully for the U.S. Senate. After that, he was from 1975 to 1977 vice-president of a bank in his hometown of Springfield. Between 1977 and 1980 he served as Director of Administration ( Secretary of Administration) of the Government of Vermont. From 1980 to 1983, Mallary vice president of Central Vermont Public Service Corporation. After that, he was CEO of a heating company (1984-1985) and from 1986 to 1994 president of a power generation company. Between 1999 and 2003 Mallary sat again as an MP in the House of Representatives from Vermont; January to June 2003, he was a tax commissioner of the state. Most recently, he lived in Charlotte, a small town in Chittenden County.
