Friedersdorf is a town in Ilm-Kreis in Thuringia in Germany.

Geography

Friedersdorf is located on a valley slope between Junker stream in the north and Großbreitenbacher Plateau in the south. West of the town is the 808 meter high Langenberg, east extends the Schwarzatal. The Frieder 's local mountain is 676 meters high, not for district owned and unwooded Milchberg south-east of the village. Friedersdorf is both the area size and by population is the smallest municipality of the Ilm -Kreis. To place a mill is one of the Ölschröte, in Junkersbachtal.

History

The village was first mentioned in 1370. The inhabitants lived many centuries of weaving and glassmaking. By 1920 Friedersdorf belonged to the Principality of Schwarzburg- Rudolstadt, then until 1952 the district Arnstadt, then the circle of Ilmenau and since 1994 Ilm-Kreis. Another special feature of Friedersdorf is that the majority of residents always KPD selected in the Reichstag elections between the First World War and 1933.

Economy and Transport

The inhabitants of Friedersdorf formerly lived by weaving and glassmaking. Industry there was in place before. In 1930, a Schwerspatgrube was opened, which served to supply the smelter Mankenbach. Today, many residents work in Großbreitenbach or Ilmenau.

From Friedersdorf is only one road that connects the village then Bohlen, or Gillersdorf with other places.
