Georges Parent (cyclist)

Georges Parent ( born September 15, 1885 in Tresserve, † October 22, 1918 in Saint- Germain -en- Laye ) was a French cyclist.

Georges Parent initially trained as a businessman in a coffee shop. His errands he did on the bike; on this Geschäftsrad he took part in the first road race since 1903 also. From 1907 to 1914 Georges Parent was a cyclist and moved to the posts on the web. In three consecutive years, he became world champion stayer, 1909, 1910 and 1911. From 1908 to 1910 he also finished first place in the French stayer championships.

Parent, who was described as quiet and humble, served during the First World War in the French army, was wounded several times and excellent. Only a few weeks before the end of the war, he died of the Spanish flu.

In the 1940s, a stayer race for the "Prix Georges Parent" was extended in Paris.
