Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010

The German preliminary decision to Euro Vision Song Contest 2010 was organized as a casting in eight TV shows that on 2 February to 12 March 2010 under the title of Our Star for Oslo (acronym: USFO ) and the first were seen at ProSieben.

After the internal selection of the German contribution for the ESC 2009 decided otherwise than in previous years again the television viewers, which artist with what song should represent Germany in the final of the competition.

The winner was Lena Meyer -Landrut with the song Satellite, with whom she with 246 points won the Euro Vision Song Contest in Oslo on May 29, 2010.

Prehistory

After the German contributions to the Euro Vision Song Contest in 2007 and 2009 respectively occupies one of the last places and so the expectations were not met, sought the NDR, which is responsible for the Euro Vision Song Contest within the ARD, for new concepts to successful to become. The ARD entered into cooperation with Stefan Raab, who was previously involved in three German Grand Prix contributions - 1998 as a composer, lyricist and conductor for Guildo Horn, 2000 himself as an artist, composer and lyricist and 2004 as the discoverer, composer, lyricist and guitarist Max Mutzke - and occurred in all three occasions in the top ten. This could then reach no more German contribution. Since Raab is contractually bound to the private channel ProSieben, it came to the new cooperation between the two stations.

Concept

The new concept was presented on 10 September 2009 at a press conference in Cologne- Mülheim. On the podium NDR director Lutz Marmor, ARD entertainment coordinator Thomas Schreiber, ProSieben CEO Andreas Bartl, ProSieben Entertainment boss Christiane pond, 1Live wave Chef Jochen Rausch and Stefan Raab were.

The participants for the final of the Euro Vision Song Contest in Oslo was determined in a total of eight television programs. In a nationwide casting to candidates of various radio stations were in a " Castingbox " on ProSieben and events apply. Overall, it tried more than 4500 people. The organizers finally selected twenty participants from the television shows. Ten of these candidates appeared in the first two elimination shows, with the best five progressed per shipment. In the following two shows left in each round of two participants.

In the fifth show and in the quarterfinals each different even from one participant. In the semifinals, the two finalists were chosen from the four remaining candidates. In the finale the audience chose the first song with which the candidate will represent Germany in Norway, and then from the two remaining candidates the winner.

The decision on which candidates progress, met only the viewers on televoting. The jury, chaired by Stefan Raab evaluated the artist, but had no direct influence on the decision. Besides Raab sat successful German musician of the jury. In the first show, Yvonne Strahovski and Marius Müller -Westernhagen belonged to the jury, in the second edition were Sarah Connor and Peter Maffay here, in the third Nena and King Boris, and in the fourth episode Cassandra Steen and Sasha. In the fifth album entitled Go Lane and Rea Garvey commented on the benefits, in the quarterfinals, it was Adel Tawil and Anke Engelke. In the semifinals, Barbara Schöneberg and Jan Delay sat next Raab, in the final welcomed the jurors Stefanie Kloss and Xavier Naidoo.

The first five shows as well as the semi-finals were on Tuesdays at 20:15 clock seen since February 2, 2010 on ProSieben. The ARD was the quarter-finals on the 5th and the final on March 12. Through the program led the radio presenter Sabine Heinrich von 1 Live (ARD ) and Matthias Opdenhövel ProSieben. The events took place in the Brain Pool TV studios in Cologne- Mülheim, in the same studio as Schlag den Raab.

In the ballot break there was an appearance of Adel Tawil, the one recited together with the Heavytones the Ich Ich title of two.

Seventh elimination show ( Semi-finals )

In the first of two passes each candidate submitted a song. The three candidates who received the most calls in the following vote were allowed to recite a second title. In the final vote ( the votes collected in the first vote was not counted here ) have been determined, the two candidates for the final. In the Abstimmpause the final vote Jan Delay presented his song Large.

Eighth excretion Show ( Finale)

In the final, the participants wore against newly composed songs. The first two songs sang each candidate, with varying degrees, the personal style of an adapted arrangement. Then, each candidate recited a specially chosen for them, another song. The audience voted first vote on the songs with which the two finalists should compete against each other. In the second vote after their presentation, the audience Lena Meyer- Landrut selected as the winner of the auditions. During this consultation phase Xavier Naidoo sang the song I need you.
