Großlobming is a municipality with 1198 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district court district Mur and Jews Castle in Styria. The place is located at an altitude of 641 m and has an area of 7.37 km ².
Geography
Großlobming lies about three kilometers south of the center of the field Knittel Murboden, at the entrance of Lobmingbachtals. The municipality is bounded on the north by the river Mur.

History
In the year 927 was the first mention of the territory of the Lobming in a deed of the Archbishop of Salzburg. Since the mid-12th century, the members of the clan is always called after one of them belonging to military buildings, but mostly by their headquarters. The first knights who " of Lobming " called themselves, were called in May 1149 to Friesach. Home to the Knights of Lobming were in the castle to Altlobming (now Sulzbach ditch ). Numerous legends and stories are told by the Knights of Lobming who had a dominant position until the first half of the 15th century.
After the extinction of the Knights of Lobming King Frederick II handed over the rule Großlobming the Wolfgang Zach. Then the Knights of Praunfalk had a long time the Großlobming castle. The second fortification remained with the Welzern and was sold for 1499 and the cousins Hans Erasmus of Saurau. On September 14, 1730 rule Großlobming was sold to Siegmund Graf Welfersheim. The next is then sold on April 23, 1755 to the pin Spital am Pyhrn, which sold the rule immediately to Count Franz Josef Wurmbrand.
In 1827, Josef Sessler purchased the domain Großlobming from the Wurmbrand'schen bankrupt. On September 1, 1866 Viktor Sessler gets the nobility and knighthood. By his marriage with Helen, Baroness of the Barony heart Inger went over to him and Viktor wrote henceforth Sessler Heart Inger. Through the childless marriage of Victor Felix and Margaret Sessler Heart Inger inherited their nephew Dr. phil. Adalbert Maria Franz Curt August Freiherr von Wimpffen and lieutenant retired and Hans Carl Maria Alfons Gustav Freiherr von Wimpffen estate and castle Großlobming.
The castle, owned by the Wimpffen family, was sold for the purpose of establishing an agricultural technical school to the provincial government of Styria in 1979. In parallel to the events of the family Sessler Heart Inger was 1898 Good Murhof, which was by then in peasant hands, transformed into a seat of power. Fame the stud Murhof under Baron Gustav Hanstein. A number of national and international trophies and cups are evidence of the highly successful British Thoroughbred breeding. Through the Death of Gustav Hanstein breeding on Murhof was unfortunately put an end to.
Currently negotiating Red Bull owner Mateschitz with the community, because he wants to buy that castle and turn it into a luxury hotel with polo field.
Culture and sights
Population
The municipality had 2001 1.031 inhabitants according to the census. 98.1 % of the population possess Austrian citizenship. For the Roman Catholic Church to 86.0 % of the population profess the Protestant Church 2.2%. 10.1 % have no religious confession.
Großlobming is a municipality of residence. This means that most residents commute Großlobmings in the surrounding cities such as Knittel field, Zeltweg or Jews castle.
Economy and infrastructure
According to Census of 2001, there are 32 workplaces with 144 employees in the community as well as 373 commuters and 93 commuters. There are 19 agricultural and forestry holdings (including 8 in the main acquisition ), which together manage 657 ha ( 1999).
Großlobming has a ADEG market.
An important economic factor for Großlobming is the University College for Agriculture and Food Industry ( FSLE ) in Großlobming castle. Especially the boarders make it possible that there is the above-mentioned local suppliers in Großlobming, in contrast to most other villages in the area, yet.
