Hand is a municipality with 1305 inhabitants ( 1 January 2013 ) in the upper Innviertel in Upper Austria. The competent court is the district court district of Braunau am Inn.

Geography

Handberg is on 497 m altitude in the upper Innviertel. The expansion is 6.9 kilometers from north to south, from west to east 6.9 km. The total area is 27.6 km ². Katastralgemeinden are Adenberg and Sandtal.

Through the municipal area flows from south to north of Fillmannsbach.

History

Since the establishment of the Duchy of Bavaria Handberg was Bavarian until 1779 and came to the Peace of Teschen with the Innviertel (then ' Innbaiern ') to Austria. During the Napoleonic Wars shortly Bavarian, it belongs since 1814 finally returned to Austria above the Enns. After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on 13 March 1938, the town belonged to the " Upper Danube ". After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria.

Handberg forms since 1 January 2007, with the town of St. Georgen am Fillmannsbach administrative matters.

Culture and sights

  • Parish Church of St Martin: gothic, mid-15th century. Two naves, with a Baroque interior (2nd half of the 17th century). 1518 construction of a tower, from 1710 to 1716 further expanded. The church is St. Dedicated to Martin.
