Lochen am See

Punch am See is a municipality in the Austrian Innviertel in Upper Austria with 2540 inhabitants ( 1 January 2013). The competent court is the district court district Mattighofen.

Geography

Punching the lake adjacent to the Mattsee on a high plateau, where the Tannberg located south of the community. The municipality has an area of 33.3 km ².

The municipality comprises the cadastral punching, Oberweissau, Tannberg and Wichenham.

History

Was first mentioned in the year 903 punching the lake. The Peace of Teschen in 1779 came the entire Innviertel with punching of Bavaria to Austria.

Punching the lake was proposed in 1974 as the location for the Salzburg Airport.

Coat of arms

Official description of the municipality coat of arms: Argent, on a green sign foot between two green hills a green, stemless, reaching up to the plate edge, triangular fir. The municipality colors are white - green.

Culture and sights

  • Parish of the Assumption in punching with famous baroque high altar
  • Branch Church of the Holy Cross in Gebertsham:

The late-Gothic church is a single building with a west-facing roof riders from around 1500. Gebert The Hamer winged altar from 1515 /20 of the workshop of the Master Gordian Guckh is attributed. The altar is in the central shrine is a figure- rich representation of the crucifixion and on the panels of the wing inner sides of the legend of the Holy Cross. In 1986, wall paintings were discovered in the church. 178 multi-colored plant ornaments, more consecration crosses and four murals were restored. In 1988, the wedding of former German Federal President Walter Scheel was held in the church.
