Holzgau
Holzgau is a municipality with 419 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Reutte, Tyrol ( Austria ). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Reutte.

History
The municipality is formed by a bunch of village on the alluvial fan of the height of Bach. Was first documented in 1315 as the place Holzge, later Holzgaw what wood or woody Au means. 1401 was elevated to parish.
The ornate facades of the houses, some of which have been renovated in the last few decades, evidence of trade relations of the inhabitants in the past centuries. A local museum gives an insight into the lives of past generations in the upper Lech Valley.

Tourism
The Simms Waterfall was created artificially end of the 19th century by Englishman Frederick R. Simms, who settled as a hunting guest in Holzgau. The town is the starting point of hikes in the Allgäu Alps and the Lech Valley Alps. Besides the importance of the two seasonal tourism community, there are many commuters.
On 15 June 2012, the longest and highest suspension bridge in Austria was opened above Holzgau.
