Heiterwang

Heiterwang is a municipality with 507 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Reutte in Tirol ( Austria ). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Reutte.

Geography

Heiterwang is located on 994 m above sea level. A. south of the main resort of Reutte district at the beginning of intermediate goals in a valley widening at Heiterwanger lake, which is connected to the Plansee by a canal.

Neighboring communities

History

The town's name derives from Ayterwanch what nettle meadow means from. The 1288 first mentioned place was popular for its abundance of fish in Lake Heiterwanger. The fishing rights changed several times their owners. The village is on the road to the Fern Pass and Reschenpass Heiterwang came as a transhipment point to a certain meaning.

Coat of arms

Blazon: In a gold and black with wave cut split shield right, two left looking fish, left a nettle in confused colors.

The coat of arms granted in 1970 symbolizes the nettle the place name and refers to the fish on the Heiterwanger lake.

Economy and infrastructure

Today Heiterwang is a two seasonal tourism community with a focus on summer tourism (through the lakes) and commuter community to Reutte. The place is located on the Fern Pass road and is connected via the Außerfernbahn on the railway network.
