Lechaschau

Lechaschau is the third largest municipality in the district of Reutte, Tyrol ( Austria ), based on the area but the smallest municipality in the district with 2035 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) with respect to the number of inhabitants. The municipality is located in the judicial district of Reutte.

The municipal area is used as the bathing water Frauensee.

Geographical location

Lech Aschau is located in Reutte basin, on the left side Lech. The area Hinterbichl forms an exclave of the adjacent municipality Wängle.

History

Was first mentioned in 1218 and was called Lechaschau to 1888 Lech, but was renamed to eliminate confusion with Lech (Vorarlberg). The name derives from Lech in Aschau ( wooded with ash Au) from. The upswing of the town began with the completion of the bridge to Reutte, 1464, who served in the Tannheimertal centuries the salt transport. This importance is also reflected in the heap village -like settlement development at the bridge.

The St Magnus Sessele is an early Christian, pagan sacrificial site. According to legend, the saint Magnus has recovered sitting on his missionary journeys in this alcove.

In addition to commercial and industrial establishments Lechaschau today has the function of a commuter community.
