Honda Civic Type R ( 1997)

The Civic Type R launched in 1997 is a derivative of the 6th generation of the Civic model. It was offered only in Japan and is therefore only available in right hand drive. The self-supporting body ( monocoque ) of Civics Type R is at crucial points seamlessly instead of spot-welded to increase the torsional rigidity. Driver and front passenger seats are by Recaro, Momo steering wheel, gear knob is the titanium. The engine has a displacement of 1.6 liters, a maximum of 136 kW ( 185 hp ), two overhead camshafts and variable valve timing. 30th anniversary edition

On the 30th anniversary of the Honda Civic 2002 Honda put on a special edition of the EP3. The changes to the standard model included other red Recaro seats, a different steering wheel, black tinted rear and side windows and a slightly modified interior ( red carpets and door panels ).

Facelift

2004, the Type R was redesigned and given a facelift. The Civic Type R in motorsport

Because of the class of compact sports car relatively favorable price-performance ratio of the Honda Civic Type R is often used by amateur drivers in racing.
