Honjō, Saitama

Honjō (Japanese本 庄 市, - shi) is a city in northern Saitama Prefecture. The Waseda University maintains a campus in the city.

Geography

Honjō located south of Takasaki and west of Fukaya.

The river Tone is flowing from northwest to northeast through the city. Another river is the Kanna.

History

Honjō was a post station (宿 场 町Shukuba -machi ) of Nakasendō during the Edo period.

The city Honjō was founded on July 1, 1954.
