Jaguar XJ8 Vanden Plas

The Jaguar X308 is a luxury sedan, the XJ series of the British car manufacturer Jaguar.

History

The X308 is a further development of the X300, which was unveiled in the autumn of 1997. From its predecessor, it is distinguished by the V8 engines with 3.2 and 4.0 liters (variants XJ8 Executive and Sovereign and Daimler 8). The latter was available as Jaguar XJR with the AJ26S and as Daimler Super V8 with the AJ27S engine, which was charged by an Eaton supercharger (see AJ- V8 engine ). The power is transmitted exclusively via a five-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels.

Externally, the model on a rounder grille, oval turn signals in the front and can be seen on the attached exclusively to the sides of the plastic bumpers chrome trim. In some small number a long version (LWF / Long Wheel Base ) was built, which had been extended by 12.5 cm only in the rear compartment. The wheelbase thus grew by 12.5 cm. This explains the different wheelbases in the adjacent table.

The X308 was built until the spring of 2003 and then replaced by the X350 with an aluminum body. A total of 126 260 vehicles of the type X308 were built.
