John Breaux

John Berlinger Breaux ( born March 1, 1944 in Crowley, Louisiana) is an American politician.

Life

After leaving school, Breaux graduated from the University of Southwestern Louisiana ( University of Louisiana at Lafayette ) in Lafayette and at Louisiana State University Law School in Baton Rouge, where he graduated in law in 1967. After his studies he worked as a lawyer in Louisiana.

Breaux is a member of the Democratic Party. From September 30 1972 to January 3, 1987, he was a successor to Edwin Edwards MP in the House of Representatives of the United States. He in turn was followed by Jimmy Hayes. From 3 January 1987 to January 3, 2005 Breaux was the successor of Senator Russell B. Long in the Senate of the United States. He was followed by David Vitter in office. After the end of his time as a senator, he was hired as a professor at the ' Douglas Manship School of Mass Communication, Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge in February 2005.

Breaux is married to Lois Breaux Daigle and member of the Catholic Church.
