History

As part of the Prince-Bishopric of Würzburg Kolitzheim was secularized in 1803 in Bavaria's favor, then left in 1805 Archduke Ferdinand of Tuscany to form the Grand Duchy of Würzburg in the Peace of Pressburg, with which it finally fell to Bavaria in 1814. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818 the municipality Kolitzheim. It was part of the former county Gerolzhofen.

The county Gerolzhofen was dissolved in 1972 and the church Kolitzheim was part of the district of Schweinfurt.

In the hamlet of Zeilitzheim 1891 Valentin Müller was born, doctor and savior of the Italian city of Assisi in World War II.

Incorporations

On 1 May 1978, the place Kolitzheim seat in the course of the Bavarian municipal reform newly constituted church today Kolitzheim with the eight formerly independent villages Kolitzheim, Gernach, Unterspiesheim, Oberspiesheim, Lindachstraße, master home, and Herlheim Zeilitzheim.

The coat of arms was approved on 18 January 1982, the government of Lower Franconia.

The community Kolitzheim consists of the formerly independent communities Gernach, Herlheim, Kolitzheim, Lindachstraße, Oberspiesheim, master home and Zeilitzheim since 1978. In all these parts of the municipality, the Bishopric of Würzburg had manorial rights; as was, for example, Herlheim one of 742 donated by Karl Mann for Foundation of the Diocese of Würzburg royal own churches. Besides the large Würzburg monasteries, such as St. Stephen, monasteries which had Maidbronn and Ebrach, also the pins Haug and Heidefeld possession in today's municipal area. Culture and sights

  • Once a year since 1200 - year celebration, the traditional Kolitzheimer Village Festival Farmer's Market takes place.
  • In ordinary home, the largest wine growing area of the district of Schweinfurt, the road Wine Festival (last weekend in July ) takes place every year. This cultural highlight of the festival calendar is known far beyond the borders of Franconia.
  • Once a year the vineyard hike (1 May ), and the road Wine Festival ( 1st weekend in August) in the district Lindachstraße take place. Here, culinary delights, such as the Franconian wine from Lindachstraße or original, produced according to traditional recipes food presented and sold.
  • Museum of Military History and time into common Wertheim am Main
  • It is also known the cultural Castle Zeilitzheim with annual cultural program. The operator, the family von Halem, was awarded the German Prize for Heritage for the restoration and use of the castle in 2004.
  • One of the most beautiful wine festivals in the region will take place on Zeilitzheimer marketplace on the third weekend in August.
  • On the 2nd weekend in July, the brass bands Days will be held in Gernach. A small village festival with the known Benfiz village race on Sunday (400, 1,000, 4,000, 6,000 and 10,000 meters)
  • The annual sub Spiessheimer Beer Festival

Economy, agriculture and forestry

It was in 1998 according to official statistics in the field of Agriculture and Forestry 82, 203 in manufacturing and in trade and transport 47 persons work at the workplace.
