Geographical location

Niederwerrn is located in the Main- Rhön in northern Bavaria, northwest of the industrial city of Schweinfurt.

Geology and natural geographical classification

Etymology

History

Niederwerrn is known since the Middle Ages through the Wiesenburg, which is still only ruin. With it, it came on June 17, 1137 to the first documentary mention of Niederwerrn.

While Oberwerrn remained in the territory of the Prince-Bishopric of Würzburg, Niederwerrn came in the 15th century under the rule of the family of Münster (to the inclusion in the Kingdom of Bavaria in the early 19th century ).
