Koločep

Koločep or Kalamota is an island in the Croatian Dubrovnik-Neretva County and part of Elaphiten. To the west of the island is Lopud. At the narrowest point of the Koločep channel, the distance to the mainland 1 km away.

Generally

The island is home to two settlements: Gornje Čelo and Donje Čelo. The settlements are connected by a road, but on the lack of width can not operate motor vehicles, that serves the street as a mere pedestrian walkway. The island is served by the Jadrolinija regularly and is connected through this with Dubrovnik. The population consists mainly of Croats together, these live from tourism during the peak season and fishing mainly. There is a hotel on the island, however, offer many locals apartments.
