Kuřimany

Kuřimany ( German Kurschiman, also Kuřiman ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located eight kilometers south-east of Strakonice in South Bohemia and belongs to Okres Strakonice.

Geography

Kuřimany lies on the left bank of the stream Třešovický creek in the foothills of the Bohemian Forest. Northeast rise of Hájek (526 m) and the Na Oltářích ( 586 m), to the east the CEPINA ( 539 m ) southeast of the Kněžský hájek ( 548 m), in the south of Bratružel ( 571 m) and the Vráž ( 645 m ), southwest of Jezinec (560 m) and west of the Kuřimanský vrch ( 586 m).

Neighboring towns are Miloňovice and Jinín in the north, Třesovice and Cehnice in the northeast, Dunovice and Paračov in the east, Radějovice, Kváskovice and Skály the southeast, Ovčín, Čepřovice and Střítež in the south, Neuslužice, Milejovice and Hoštice the southwest, Jedraž, Milíkovice and Strunkovice nad Volyňkou in the west and Svaryšov, Nová Ves and Sudkovice in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of Kuřimany was 1327. Later, the men Cehnice Říčany acquired the village and beat it to the Good Cehnice to which was united front by Mikuláš 1475 Cehnice Říčany with his uncle belonging Good Stiekna. In 1928, the village of Miloňovice broke off and formed its own community. On November 26, 1971 Kuřimany was incorporated into Jinín and on 1 April 1980 this together after Miloňovice.
