List of Ramsar sites in Ukraine

This list contains the currently 33 Ramsar sites of Ukraine with a total area of ​​744 651 hectares.

Ramsar sites are closed after the 1971 Ramsar Convention protected wetlands of international importance, according to the intention of the international international treaty especially as a habitat for waterfowl and waders.

Basics

The agreement is named after the place of concluding the contract, the Iranian city of Ramsar and is one of the oldest international instruments to protect the environment.

After approval by the Ukrainian parliament on 29 October 1996, Ukraine has renewed their membership after leaving the Soviet Union after they had ratified the treaty in December 1991 and the Convention, including amendments (Amendments ) of the Extraordinary Conference of the Contracting Parties in Regina, Canada, 1987 (Regina Amendments, been ratified on 1 May 1994 ), adopted.
