List of tallest buildings in Germany
This list outlines the 100 tallest buildings in Germany with their minimum structural height. Listed are just skyscrapers, but not transmission towers, television or telecommunication towers, steeples, chimneys or similar structures. For these buildings, see List of tallest structures in Germany.
By far the highest and most high-rise buildings of the Republic are in Frankfurt am Main, where 31 buildings achieve a structural height of at least 100 meters. Then Berlin and Cologne follow with 10 buildings on the 100 -meter mark. For buildings from a height of 150 meters one speaks generally of skyscrapers; in Germany there are 15 skyscrapers, one of which there are 14 in Frankfurt am Main and Bonn.
Because many German cities have a historic skyline of spiers and domes, the construction of tall buildings in the city center is usually undesirable and politically not a majority. So could develop only in Frankfurt am Main, because of the historical economic importance of the city, a skyline of skyscrapers from the middle of the 20th century, making the city today - makes it one of the leading skyscraper cities in Europe - with Moscow and London.
