Louis Proost

Louis Proost ( born April 7, 1935 in Halle, Belgium, † February 3, 2009 in Lier ) was a Belgian racing cyclist.

Proost was active as a professional cyclist from 1958 to 1967. In the years 1960, 1961, 1963 and 1964, he participated in the Tour de France and won a stage in 1960. In 1961 he won a stage of the Giro d' Italia in 1963 and second in the Belgian championships. In 1964, his participation in the Vuelta a España, where he reached the 22th place.

After his career, he opened in the Belgian Lier Café Waregem. There he died after a long illness at Holy Hartziekenhuis.
