Lu, Piedmont

Lu (also called Lu Monferrato ) is a municipality of Alessandria (AL) in the Italian province, Piedmont.

Geography

The place is 19 km from the provincial capital of Alessandria at an altitude of 307 m above sea level. The municipality covers an area of 21.74 km ².

The neighboring municipalities are Camagna Monferrato, Conzano, Cuccaro Monferrato, Mirabello Monferrato, Occimiano, Quargnento and San Salvatore Monferrato. The patron saint of the place is San Valerio.

The churches of Chiesa di San Giacomo, Chiesa di San Nazzaro and Chiesa di Santa Maria Nuova are worth seeing.

Specialty

Bei Lu vines of Barbera for the Barbera d'Asti, a DOCG red wine are grown with status, as well as for the Barbera del Monferrato.
