Lviv Railways

The Lwiwska Salisnyzja (Ukrainian Львівська залізниця; Russian Львовская железная дорога / Lwowskaja schelesnaja doroga, German as " Lviv Railway " ) is a regional railway company in western Ukraine with headquarters in Lviv and belongs to the Ukrainian railway company Ukrsalisnyzja.

The railway company operating the service networks in the oblasts of Lviv, Volyn, Rivne, Ternopil, Ivano -Frankivsk, Chernivtsi and Transcarpathian and included 2008 4521 kilometers of rail track of which 3207 km were electrified, while 354 stations were operated. While concentrating in Russian broad gauge (1520 mm) existing routes there are also some narrow gauge lines. Director of the company was between 2007 and 2010 Mychajlo Mostowyj, since 2010 this is Bohdan Pych.

A large part of the developed by the Lwiwska Salisnyzja territory once lay in Austria - Hungary, the distances were accordingly built by Hungarian and Austrian railway companies. Even today this is clearly visible in the architecture of buildings and viaducts.

History

The company's history dates back to the 1861 back when the railway line from Przemysl was opened into what was then Lemberg. Until 1918 the railway lines were for the most part the kk State Railways ( Austria - Hungary), and then they came to 1939 to the Polish State Railways. After the occupation of eastern Poland by the Soviet Union in the autumn of 1939, the tracks were put under state administration. First, the Lemberger and Stani Lauer tracks that were combined in November 1939 to Lviv railways. The Umspurungen to Russian broad gauge could largely be completed in 1940, but were zurückgespurt back after the occupation by the United Germany and could only after 1945 are brought to broad gauge. In 1953, finally came to union with the Koweler railroad, since there is a company in its present form.
