Southern Railways (Ukraine)

The Piwdenna Salisnyzja (Ukrainian Південна залізниця; Russian Южная железная дорога / Juschnaja schelesnaja doroga, German as " Southern Railway " ) is a regional railroad in the northeastern Ukraine headquartered in Kharkiv and belongs to the Ukrainian railway company Ukrsalisnyzja.

The railway company operating the service networks in the oblasts Kharkiv, Poltava and Sumy oblasts as well as parts of other surrounding Oblast Chernihiv.

The railway company operates the railway traffic on a total length of about 3,000 kilometers.

History

The company's history begins with the opening of the first stretch between about Kharkiv to Kursk Losowa in 1869. The former Kursk - Kharkov - Azov- sheet is renamed to the 1896 Kursk - Kharkov - Sevastopol train and nationalized on June 6, 1897. Parallel to this, the Kharkov Nikolayev train, this is already nationalized by March 27, 1881. Over time, the route network strongly developed further in 1907 comes to the union of the two tracks under the name Південні казенні залізниці / Piwdenni kasenni salisnyzi or Южные железные дороги / Juschnyje schelesnyje dorogi ( "State Südbahnen "). 1934 finally the railways reform in the Soviet Union and the society it created in its present form.
