Mark Osborne (ice hockey)

Mark Anatole Osborne ( born August 13, 1961 in Toronto, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player. Between 1981 and 1995, he graduated in 1006 games in the National Hockey League for the Detroit Red Wings, New York Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs and the Winnipeg Jets in the position of left winger.

Career

Mark Osborne graduated in his youth 1978-1981 three seasons for the Niagara Falls Flyers in the Ontario Major Junior Hockey League and the Ontario Hockey League. At the end of his second season for the Flyers, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1980 in the third round to 46th position overall by the Detroit Red Wings. For the Red Wings, he was active in two seasons between 1981 and 1983 before he was transferred on 13 June 1983 along with Mike Blaisdell and Willie Huber to the New York Rangers.

Had his most successful season with the Rangers winger in the NHL season 1985/86, when he reached the Prince of Wales Conference Finals with his team. There were subject to the "Blue Shirts" later Stanley Cup champion Montreal Canadiens in the best- of-seven series after five games with 1:4. After 58 games in the following season, Mark Osborne was issued on 5 March 1987 along with Jeff Jackson in exchange for a third-round option for the NHL Entry Draft in 1989 to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

After three and a half seasons with the Leafs Osborne was transferred on November 10, 1990 again. Along with Ed Olczyk, he was sent to the Winnipeg Jets. Toronto got the player David Ellett and Paul Fenton in return. For the Jets, the striker ran across the season but only in 80 games in before he was transferred on 10 March 1992 in exchange for Lucien DeBlois back to the Toronto Maple Leafs. During his second engagement in Toronto, he was defeated twice in a row with his team in the Conference Finals: 1993 Campbell Conference Finals against the Los Angeles Kings, as well as in 1994 in the Western Conference Finals against the Vancouver Canucks.

Following this, Mark Osborne signed a contract with the New York Rangers, for whom he was a season long active and then finished his NHL career. He then worked as player-manager of the Cleveland Lumberjacks of the International Hockey League, and the 1998 to 2000 as assistant coach of the Ontario Hockey League clubs Toronto St. Michael's Majors.
