The Mercedes- Benz O 405 is a city bus from Daimler -Benz in high-floor construction, which was built from 1984 to 2001 as standard.

One-piece variant O 405

This vehicle belongs to the second generation of VÖV standard buses and is the direct successor of the O 305 Parallel MAN also offered standardized VÖV buses of the 2nd generation. From Magirus-Deutz and Bussing, there was (in contrast to the previous generation of VÖV - I- Bus ) no for Mercedes -Benz O 405 competing VÖV II model more, but the VÖV -II bus was added Auwärter Neoplan. Natural gas -powered bus O 405 CNG

Some O 405 were produced by natural gas. This version was featured with the addition of CNG ( O 405 CNG). The chassis of the basic types O 405 and O 405 G were prepared as right-hand drive for export to UK, South Africa and Australia.

O 405 T trolley bus

As with the previous model, Mercedes-Benz O 305 O 405 probed even when the market for trolleybuses. However, only a single O bus based on the O 405 was produced in 1986 built this prototype has an electrical equipment from AEG and is called O 405 T denotes (T stands for trolleybus ).

Double Decker O 405 DD

The vehicle Falkenried (FFG ) presented already in 1982 as an alternative to SD 80 MAN / Waggon- Union a city lines biplane on the basis of the later O 405 - series before, which was intended for the BVG in Berlin, not ordered from this, however, has been. From this type of two prototypes were manufactured. By 1995, a vehicle was stationed at the Mercedes plant in Berlin and served as a demonstration bus until it reached a sightseeing vehicle to Hamburg.
