Mohyliv-Podilskyi

Mohyliw - Podilskyj (Ukrainian Могилів - Подільський, Russian Могилёв-Подольский/Mogilew-Podolski, Polish Mohylów Podolski, Romanian Moghilǎu ) is an approximately 32,000 inhabitants, and the Rajonzentrum Rajons the same name in the Vinnytsia Oblast in western Ukraine.

Mohyliw - Podilskyj is located on the Dniester River in the heart of Podolia as a border town located in the Moldovan Rajon Ocniţa city Otaci opposite. Administratively, including the settlements Odaja ( Одая, located on the east ) and Sonjatschne ( Сонячне, north east ) to the city.

Was first documented Mohyliw - Podilskyj 1595, when there was the Moldavian prince Jeremiah Movilă his daughter in marriage into the Polish nobility Potocki family for dowry. The groom finally named the city then after his father Jeremiah Movilă. The addition Podilskyj (Ukrainian Поділля / Podillja ) merely referred to the area surrounding the town lands of confusion with the homonymous city in eastern Belarus ( Mogilev, Mogilev today ) should be avoided.

Mohyliw - Podilskyj maintains a twinning with Końskie in Poland.
