Montreal Bleu Blanc Rouge

The Bleu - Blanc- Rouge de Montréal (English Montreal Bleu Blanc Rouge) were a junior ice hockey team from Montreal that played 1972-1975 in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Originally, the team was founded in 1933 as Montreal Junior Canadiens. In 1975, the team was renamed the Montreal Juniors. Yet several times moved to the franchise within the QMJHL and plays since 1996 under the name of Rouyn -Noranda Huskies.

History

In their first season, the team earned under head coach Roger Bedard 26 wins, lost 36 games and won three draws. In the then discharged with only nine teams league, the Bleu - Blanc- Rouge qualified as seventh- place finisher for the play- offs, only the last placed Drummondville Rangers missed the jump in the final round. In the quarter finals, the team was defeated in four games against the Cornwall Royals and retired from the competition.

In the 1973/74 season the QMJHL was first played in two divisions, the West and East Division consisted of six or five teams. The franchise from Montreal put their best scoring in the regular season to go, as with a record of 43 wins, 24 defeats and three draws were earned a total of 89 points. As table second in the West Division, the team met the Sherbrooke Castors, who were defeated 4-1 victories. In the semi-finals finally was withdrawing from the play-offs, the Sorel Eperviers won in four games and secured a place in the finals of the Coupe du Président.

Also in the following, and at the same time last season, the Bleu - Blanc- Rouge secured a place in the finals. After the Cornwall Royals were defeated in four games, the team lost against the Laval National. In 1975, the franchise was moved and re-founded as a junior de Montréal.
